Replacement of the Steam Laminating Valves that control the Pressures and Temperatures of all the Steam that is being used at the olefin Plant for Repsol Petróleo Tarragona
Application
Replacement of 4 Laminating Valves (pressure and temperature reducers) for steam production at different levels as required by the different consumption points of the plant, guaranteeing the flow and pressure at the Saturated Steam temperature + 5ºC of reheating according to the destination.
The problem
The different users of the installations and Refinery systems were not able to receive the required Steam under the stipulated design conditions (flow/pressure/temperature), which caused delays in the processes and production stoppages. For this reason, REPSOL decided to replace all the elements comprising the 4 Steam Stations. COPES VULCAN has always offered accurate and reliable operating solutions at all installations where their equipment has been installed.
The solution
The original New Technical Specification listed a series of technical characteristics to be met by the supplied equipment; not only in terms of performance, but also in terms of the available space. With the aim of guaranteeing the requested scope to each consumption point (different consumptions at the same pressure and temperature for each Station) and attempting to reduce the probability of a serious failure occurring in the operation, specific equipment was designed for each of them.
The results
After the installation and commissioning of the equipment, the customer verified the reliability and accuracy of the values obtained, guaranteeing confidence in the system and allowing the customer to free up resources in the production and maintenance areas. A proper selection of the equipment generated a continuity of service that had never been seen until that moment.
