Reconditioning of Cooling Tower T2
Application
Replacement and Reconditioning of all INTERNAL COMPONENTS, DIFFUSERS AND LOUVERS of 3 Cells of Cooling Tower T2 at the Refinery that REPSOL Petróleo has in Puertollano (Ciudad Real).
The problem
Tower T2 was built in the year 1972 and therefore, some materials were found to be in poor condition or out of regulation. With the main objective being to guarantee safety in production as well as improving the thermal performance of the Tower, the customer decided to replace all the static components of 3 Cells, installing SPX Cooling equipment and solutions that met current regulation. With this aim, all internal fillers, droplet separators, diffusers and louvers of 3 Cells of Cooling Tower T2 were removed, some of which had fallen or had become detached from the ceiling due to corrosion and were not capable of generating the required cold water Temperature for the production process.
The solution
Using new SPX Cooling technologies and developments in fillers, droplet separators, diffusers and louvers, these cells were rebuilt following the technical specifications as well as the internal safety procedures.
The results
After the first equipment and solutions were installed, the customer verified the reliability of the implemented solutions as well as the null impact on their production process, which has been able to continue without any decrease in loads, generating trust and guaranteeing the operation and production. Selecting SPX Cooling Technologies products and solutions strengthens the execution of these reconditioning tasks as part of the installations upgrading project initiated by the owners.
